Obesity is a significant co-morbidity for pregnant people in the US. However, some of the outcome that people may experience during pregnancy and birth maybe contributed to inadequate or ineffective care. This presentation explorers current evidence and presents recommendation or caring for people with obesity to improve wellness, optimal birth outcomes, and promote respectful care.
Learning Objectives:
Objective 1: At the conclusion of this presentation, the learner will be able to name two ways in which obesity can affect birth outcomes.
Objective 2: At the conclusion of this presentation, the learner will identify one thing you can do to improve the care and experience of obese intrapartum patients.
Objective 3: At the conclusion of this presentation, the learner will gain an understanding of how obesity affects breastfeeding and cesarean rates.
